My 91 year old father-in-law was in independent living and the day before Thanksgiving fell and was hospitalized. He was dumped into a horrible skilled nursing/rehab facility where he rapidly deteriorated and then with no warning we were given a few days to then find a new place for him to live. After hours of frustrating phone calls I luckily found a link for LVSL which recently opened. I called up and spoke with Greg who was informative and friendly. We went down to visit and were instantly impressed by the welcoming atmosphere, the friendly, professional staff and incredibly clean facility. Stephen and Greg answered all our questions and introduced us to the staff. We moved my father-in-law in the next day and we could not be more pleased. He has thrived at LVSL. The nursing staff has communicated with us and gone out of their way to make him feel welcome and cared for. The cooks have worked with us to ensure that he has food he enjoys eating. The staff even went so far as to rewire his room so we could accommodate his large TV which he needs due to macular degeneration. They treat my father-in-law with great dignity and are pushing him hard to regain mobility. We are so grateful for the caring staff and welcoming home they have provided. As Livermore residents we feel so lucky to have LVSL here in town. This is an amazing facility with a caring, well-trained staff.

I was visiting a number of assisted living facilities in the area and was really impressed by the knowledge and promptness of their Retirement Councillor Greg Green. He was polite and very prompt in answering all my questions. Their model of care is much different then most places that they have nurses on staff in addition to normal care givers.

In a very short timeframe, we were faced with finding care for our mother and moving her to California. We had visited other facilities in Livermore and had a decision in mind, but while driving down East Avenue one Sunday afternoon, we decided to stop at LVSL and take a look. We were greeted warmly by Stevie, one of the LVNs on staff. She graciously walked us through the facility and answered our many questions. LVSL is a small, intimate facility and the LVN/caregiver-to-resident ratio is great. The LVNs are on staff 24/7, which is very reassuring. The caregivers are kind, patient, and respectful of the residents' privacy and personal needs. The chefs are very pleasant and provide a good balanced diet. LVSL occasionally hosts entertainment for the residents and their families, e.g., comedians from SF and musicians from local schools. The facility is very clean, laundry services are good, and the residents have a beautiful garden in which to enjoy the fresh air. Mom's had some ups and downs during this initial transition period, and we are all working together to ensure she's safe and comfortable. We consider ourselves and Livermore lucky to have this new facility available to those we love.
